Stump Beach Cove - Sonoma Coast, CA

Located within the breathtaking expanse of Salt Point State Park, Stump Beach Cove nestles within a picturesque deep cove, embraced by rugged rocky cliffs on all sides. It is one of a few sandy beaches in the area. When in season, Miller Creek cascades down to meet the sandy shores. Offering a rare oasis of sand amidst the rugged terrain, Stump Beach is a haven for beachcombers and families alike.

Accessed via a well-marked parking lot just off Highway 1, visitors embark on a 1/4-mile trail that descends to the shoreline, providing access to the beach below. At the final stretch, the path becomes more adventurous, necessitating a bit of scrambling and the occasional use of hands for balance.

At low tide, the beach unveils its treasures: a small cave beckons exploration, while the abundant kelp beds offer glimpses into the rich marine ecosystem. Driftwood, carried by the gentle flow of Miller Creek, decorates the inlet, adding to the coastal charm of the scene.

For those eager to venture further, hiking trails branch out in both directions along the bluff, offering sweeping views of the rugged coastline. To the north and south, these trails meander through the Salt Point State Park, inviting exploration of its diverse landscapes.
